Mr. Lee's PE program is based on a set of six standards in the Maryland Curriculum Framework for Physical Education which include:
Exercise Physiology, Biomechanical principles, Social psychological principles, Motor learning principles and Physical activity
The goal of our comprehensive and rigorous physical education program is to help students become responsible citizens who are both physically educated and health literate.
Each student in Mr. Lee's Physical Education Class will set and achieve personally challenging goals in physical activity, apply higher order thinking skills to human movement, and design personal movement and fitness plans.
Students will be able to display the skills and practices of a physically active lifestyle, knowing the benefits of their choices to be involved in physical activity.
All students will be exposed to a variety of quality movement experiences that will help them develop the skils and confidence necessary to attain a mindset that values physical activity and its benefits in sustaining a healthy lifestyle.
The curriculum in our school system is built around developing students' critical and creative thinking skills, as well as essential academic success skills, so that students are well prepared for a lifetime of learning.
The curriculum in our school system is currently being upgraded for the elementary grades in a way that will better engage students and teachers, and dedicate more learning time to subjects such as the arts, information literacy, science, social studies and physical education. By blending these subjects with the core content areas of reading, writing, and mathematics, students will receive robust, engaging instruction across all subjects in the early grades. In short, we are building a stronger foundation at the elementary level.
Mr. Lee is following Montgomery County Public Schools Curriculum 2.0. Please visit MCPS Physical Education Web site for more information.
